It's very hard to believe that in just a little over three weeks we'll be leaving for Sun Dance. Where did the year go?? January came and went and suddenly July is breathing down our necks. I think part of the reason the time has snuck up on me is that the weather has been so odd. There was a hot spell in May, but since then it has been rainy and cool and has barely broke the 70 degree mark most days. It doesn't feel like Sun Dance could be around the corner.
Last year, while packing for Sun Dance in the Pacific Northwest, it was 105 degrees in northern Nevada. When we got to Oregon, I froze my tushy off because I just couldn't be bothered to pack warm clothes. Then I was down in the moonlodge that receives absolutely ZERO sunshine on the forest floor and continued to freeze my tushy off for 6 days. I would climb the hill and stand by the port-a-potty to soak up some rays and warm up. Since I still have all my long-sleeved shirts and long pants in my drawers from the winter, I shouldn't have any problems packing appropriately this year.
The lists have been made, but the real organizing has yet to begin. I have ideas... lots of ideas... but my usual frantic, sleepless state of mind has not risen its ugly head. No heart palpitations or anxiety of any kind. It's highly unusual. I'm not really sure what's different about this year, but maybe I'm just that much more confident that everything will fall into place on its own. Maybe I've just stream-lined the packing so well that it's barely a thought anymore.
Or, maybe I'm just in denial. I think I'll start hyper-ventilating now. There's so. much. to. do.
Nahhh... I've still got three weeks.

I think that you are totally in control because you know exactly what needs to be done now. You're a pro.
